For the first podcast of the series, we are proud to present a mix by DJ Fuckoff. New Zealand-born DJ, Producer, and MC, Fuckoff has stormed Berlin’s scene with relentless energy and style. Her provocative lyrics and breakneck speed have captivated audiences. Raised in the electronic music scene, Fuckoff fearlessly breaks boundaries, blending genres with a refreshing nonchalance.
The series is presented by Rakans: Beirut-born and Berlin-based, Rakans, founder of the Queer collective Rawmantique. He is also a Pornceptual resident. Rakans not only curates the podcast series but also conducts interviews with participating artists.
Rakans: What are your pronouns? And your favorite record?
DJ Fuckoff: She/they <3 ooooh I got so many favs across genres but I’ve always got DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn – Broken Hearted on repeat. Rip Rashad x
Rakans: You once said in an interview with MixMag that “It’s fun when people get pissed off at my music”. What’s your advice behind this emotion to new upcoming artists?
DJ Fuckoff: I think as an artist for me I love to be challenged be it visually or sonically as it’s important people get different perspectives even if that perspective pisses them off at first haha. It’s also important to stay true to your core and be unapologetically yourself, then the right people will support and feel your energy in your works. Best thing to do is fuck around & find out then let people talk if they wanna!
Rakans: In homo culture, you qualify as a modern “Love” icon. What’s your motivation?
DJ Fuckoff: Honestly, my heart is exploding with love haha. Seeing everyone feeling sexy and being intimate on the dance floor is what motivates me. I love making music that can touch on love topics we all familiar with and can scream out together in the club, then sweat it out to some hot bass. The community is 100 percent my motivation <3
