We’re thrilled to announce a special collaborative podcast featuring Omon Breaker and Supergloss. This dynamic duo, who recently joined forces to release their debut EP “Visual Freak,” brings together the raw emotional depth and industrial edge of Omon Breaker with the vibrant, genre-blending energy of Supergloss. Their unique styles converge in this exclusive mix, offering a taste of their upcoming original track set to be released on our next VA, in celebration of 11 years of Pornceptual.
The series is presented by Rakans: Beirut-born and Berlin-based, Rakans, founder of the Queer collective Rawmantique. He is also a Pornceptual resident. Rakans not only curates the podcast series but also conducts interviews with participating artists.
RAKANS: I have the pleasure to be presenting this interview with Omon Breaker, and Super Gloss, without further due let’s get into it! Please share with us your pronouns? And what is your favorite record?
O & S: Thank you for inviting us to be part of your Mix-Series. We are Supergloss (she/her) and Omon Breaker (he/him). At the moment, our favorite album is âWe Interfaceâ by the German duo X-Dream. We have the CD at home, which we found in a Berliner âzu verschenkenâ box, and we even chose one of the tracks as the intro for our podcast. The record has a dystopian, spacey feel with a sexy electro sound that we really enjoy listening to together at home.
RAKANS: â When I think of “Super Gloss”, I think HEAVEN UNTOUCHABLE OPULENT, What makes you Super Gloss?, and Omon Breaker: I think of resistance and power! What inspired the name Omon Breaker? And at this point, we are sure everyone would like to know the common between both personalities?!
O & S: Thatâs an interesting description of the name Superglossâweâve never heard that before, but Lina can definitely relate to it! The name represents ultra-femininity and sarcasm. On the other hand, Omon Breaker is a political statement of resistance against oppression and invasion. Our artist names are polar opposites, but they also show that we both like to be bold and incorporate our personal beliefs into our art. We think the reason we get along, both personally and musically, is because we both have a flair for drama.
RAKANS: You’ve been making waves in the dance scene recently touring around the world and playing and producing together. We are very happy to see it! What is the recipe to a successful balanced and glossy career as a couple and artist partners?
O & S: Our main focus and shared passion is creating together. Itâs an outlet for all the negative feelings in our lives. The work we share is where being a couple is really easyâit empowers us. Over the last few months, weâve started to trust each otherâs tastes more, truly listen to one another, and make decisions and compromises without threatening each other, even if we canât agree on a hi-hat for a track. We both have strong personalities and tastes, but stepping out of your comfort zone can be really freeing. And the most important ingredient for a shared career is understanding that in the endâLina is always right.
RAKANS: If you look at the striking cover, it is embraced with a fresh vampire red and in the center a calf with 2 heads. simply, a beautiful freak of nature. On the 16th of May, you released your first work together, an EP called “Visual Freak” – What inspired this work sonically? And visually?
O & S: The EP we released together is a great example of what we mentioned earlier. When we first started working on it, we were just following the urge to create something together, without any goal of releasing it. It was more like a date nightâgetting together in the studio and experimenting with how Maksymâs expertise in rhythmic, dark, emotional music could blend with Linaâs passion for trance and sweet melodies. The outcome is truly bittersweet. So, the inspiration was really just an exploration of our tastes.
As more tracks came together, we saw the opportunity to create an album and began searching for cover ideas. Weâre both Tumblr girlies, and Lina loved the poem about the two-headed calf. Itâs a story about a farmer who allowed a deformed newborn calf to look at the stars, knowing it was its only day to live. And as you can tell – we love a bit of drama. Aesthetically, itâs a symbol that differences should be celebrated and that everyone deserves to live life to the fullest, even if society sees us as freaks.
RAKANS: Let’s give the other generations advice??? What would you wanna tell your younger self & the readers who meet united at the dancefloor?
O & S: We come from very different backgrounds. Maksym was born in Dnipro, an industrial city, and had an unstable childhood before coming to Berlin as a refugee. Lina comes from a small rural German town, where her childhood was spent collecting flowers in the fields. We both believe we met to combine our experiences and differences, to accept and support each otherâs flaws because we understand where they come from. Our advice is to always listen deeply to each otherâs strugglesâin and outside of club culture. (And Lina wants to add that she would tell her younger self to let go of the leopard print she was obsessed with in her teensâit doesnât suit her!)
Super Gloss & Omon Breaker, it is a pleasure for me to interview you, on my behalf & of the PRNCPTL family, we love you & can’t wait to dance together!
