“In May 2019 – 25 men and 3 women voted to effectively ban abortion in Alabama, even in cases of rape or incest. The decision came amidst a wave of anti-abortion legislation that swept the United States. The news felt like a declaration of war against women and begs the question; why are we still allowing men to make decisions about women’s bodies? I created this series of images to deal with my own grief and the grief of the thousands of women whose body autonomy was taken away from them.” – by Kirra Cheers
