La ville errante – the wandering city- , according to the surrealists, is a mutable, dynamic space through which one moves as a drifting passerby or flâneur. This flâneur allows themselves to be guided by le hasard objectif (objective chance), which the city provides. It concerns encounters, events, or coincidences that seem accidental, yet through their intensity or symbolic resonance feel as if they were necessary. But what happens when the flâneur allows themselves to be guided by their exhibitionistic subconscious? Le hasard objectif becomes le hasard exhibitionniste.
