A female nipple is censored faster than graphic violence. A dick is immediately classified as pornographic. In the Zeitgeist of sexual diversity, the restrictive code of social media for images of the human body is an unnecessary constraint for artists and creatives. Countless creators are regularly censored and blocked – even deleted – by the networks for their work.
The group exhibition #UncensoredBerlin deals with those images that are affected by this form of censorship and offers the participating artists a platform to express themselves freely. Topics such as self-portrayal, vanity, and body cult are in direct contrast to activist approaches such as feminism, body positivity, sex positivity, and inclusion.
The initiator of the exhibition is the popular cultural blog and city guide iHeartBerlin.de which has already organized several large group exhibitions in the past 11 years and wants to support a new aspect of the Berlin creative scene with #UncensoredBerlin.
