About TRLCK ART
“We are TRLCK art – a small photo project from Ukraine, born as a collaboration of two people – restaurateur Denis and photographer Julia.
We create photo art in our own way by printing photos, taken by us, on vintage or antique plates, thus bringing photography into the realm of object art, design, and decor.
At the core of our art project lies the duality of perceiving the object and the idea as art – at first glance, we employ the rather common concept of “decorative plates” that may resemble tourist souvenirs. However, this is far from mass production, as each piece requires a lot of work – both physical and creative. The physical work involves manually preparing each plate for printing, applying special coatings, direct printing, and processing, sometimes requiring multiple stages and reprinting due to the complexity of working with porcelain and the unpredictable result. The creative work involves shooting, meticulous searches for plates that will perfectly convey our senses, ideas, and inspirations that arose during the creation of the photographs.
We print each photo only once on vintage plates, each with its own “life” imprints. Therefore, each piece of work is unique to us.
We aim to show that art is, above all, the perspective and effort of those who create it. Even if the form factor appears simple, behind it lies inspiration, idea, meaning, work, and emotions.
Yes, we employ irony in our art, and we satirize many issues of massiveness and “templates”. However, our irony and humor are intended to provoke reflection and a critical perspective, even on mundane things – to look at their essence, the process of creation, and their meaning.
We satirize forms and images, endeavoring to demonstrate that art – whether applied or figurative – can bestow beauty and uniqueness upon anything, with the idea and technique being paramount.
And undoubtedly, in our perception of beauty, we focus on the beauty of the male body and their relationships with themselves and each other. We strive to showcase male images across all spectrums – from muscularity to tenderness, to elevate the hidden desires of our models and reveal their attitudes towards their own sexuality, to depict these emotions in our photos.”
