“Irene Coccoli’s ‘Third Skin Milan 2023′ explores the relationship between humans and interfaces. It delves into how interfaces fulfill our needs, from basic functions like eating to social interactions, and how they progressively replace physical interactions, becoming a tangible entity. Coccoli uses macabre imagery and food to highlight the unsettling aspects of altered eating habits in this digital age. The work also considers the invasive nature of interfaces, which adapt to users’ needs, fostering a dynamic relationship. The piece is divided into Healthy, Candy, and Spicy interfaces, reflecting the personalization of our interactions with technology. Additionally, the project addresses the impact of interfaces on human posture and features, emphasizing how our virtual lives often take precedence over our physical bodies.
