STUDIO P–P consists of real-life lovers & art fags Pär Ålander and Philipp Gallon, who capture their emotions in self-portraits, photographing each other and intimate moments together in an honest, humorous and sexy style.
“We met on Tinder not even a year ago. We were both going through a series of personal challenges at that time and I think none of us was really expecting more than another blind date. But we had the nicest time and both felt right away that there was a special chemistry between us which we wanted to explore. 4 months later we moved in together. We basically became inseparable from the get-go. It was one of those rare occasions where you meet someone you didn’t even know you were looking for. We could help each other work through our issues, and pretty much right away we realized that we shared the same ideas around making art about queer identity. We both had been working with similar projects before and once we started talking about doing something together everything just fell into place. Living and making art together feels like the perfect symbiosis both romantically and artistically.
It’s not a job or a project, it’s who we are. Together we found a way to visualize the things we are passionate about. We exclusively work with self-portraits in our personal spaces, not with models or in artificial studio surroundings. We invite the viewers into our home, our bed and show intimate moments that we hope people can relate to. Right now our primary medium is photography, but we don’t want to limit ourselves to one form of expression. We do what feels right, whether is with our own projects, collaborations or commissions with and for people who share our values. We want to stay curious and explore. We’re travelling constantly and we’re in the process of planning our own clothesline together as well as a range of home decor. We’re so grateful to be doing this together and can’t wait for what’s to come.”
