Welcome to the Pornceptual Podcast! This episode features VINVAR, a Berlin-based Georgian DJ and co-founder of the queer collective fluid.vision. Drawing from Tbilisi’s underground club culture, where techno becomes a form of rebellion, VINVAR’s sound blends old and new-school techno with touches of acid, trance, tribal, and hypnotic rhythms.
Her sets channel raw energy and freedom, turning the dancefloor into a space for pure expression. Join us as we dive into her musical journey and the powerful vision behind her artistry.
The series is presented by Rakans: Beirut-born, Berlin-based DJ, founder of Rawmantique, and a Pornceptual resident who curates and interviews the featured artists.
RAKANS: Salam love!! Please share with us your pronouns? And what’s your favorite record?
VINVAR: She/They. Hmm, that’s a tough one to answer, but if I had to pick, I’d say my all-time favorite record is The Ape of Naples by Coil! <3
RAKANS: Your name has a strong Ring to it, like a strong warrior coming from a far, Vin! Var! But also I could be delusional. We MUST know your inspiration behind the name, please?
VINVAR: hahaha now this is deep lol. My name actually means “Who am I?” in Georgian—vin (who) + var (I am). When I created my Instagram, I just picked it as a joke, and then when I started mixing in clubs I decided to keep it as my dj name. Honestly, it really clicks with my existential side. I believe our sense of identity is always evolving—not something fixed, but shaped by the experiences we have, the challenges we face, and the way we see the world. This question might never have a clear-cut answer, and that’s the beauty of it. It pushes me to keep exploring, growing, and discovering new layers of myself every day.
RAKANS: You’re flexible as hell, both body & mind. Tell us a bit about your collective Fluid Vision & how you see its future trajectory?
VINVAR: Aww, yes! I try to keep both my body and mind healthy, especially as a DJ. We really have to take extra care of ourselves to keep going strong for the long run.
Fluid.vision is queer political techno collective since 2020 . Our central mission is to create a safe environment to celebrate the LGBTQIA+, FLINTA and BIPOC communities in Berlin, by creating events that feature queer DJs, artists, performers and educators. We see our collective as a force to promote queer collective resilience and empowerment due to the rise of rightwing forces, gentrification, war and climate refugee crisis. We see ourselves now and in the future as a point of contact for marginalized people seeking refuge in Berlin to find connection and community. Our events have always offered and will continue to offer a safer space for exchange, self-exploration and collective healing.
RAKANS: If there’s one thing you’d wish DJing would bring you, what would it be?
VINVAR: It’s hard to choose only one thing, but i would say connection. For me, DJing it’s not just about playing tracks, it’s about bringing people together in a way that words can’t really express.
RAKANS: So many beautiful kids starting to party for the first time now, attending newly queer & electronic events. What advice would you give them that you would’ve wanted to hear earlier?
VINVAR: Good question! It’s all about finding what works for you and to be mindful. I would advise to explore it without drugs, The music and energy on the dance floor are powerful enough on their own. The best memories are the ones you actually remember;) <3
On my behalf & of the PRNCPTL family, we love you & can’t wait to dance together!
