“Putting on feminine clothing for the first time felt so foreign to me, that when I looked in the mirror I asked Thomas “Are you sure I don’t look like a joke?”. I was afraid of being mocked, judged, or seen as weak. As much as I wanted to consider myself an open-minded liberal dude, I suddenly realized I actually thought I could only look “good” if I wore tight shorts and leaned into my masculinity. Slowly though, as we kept shooting, I was allowed to inhibit this unknown territory and embrace whatever it made me feel – which I now know to describe as – POWERFUL! Purposefully dissolving the line between what I perceived to be seen as masc or fem in front of the lens gave me such a rush of playfulness. Felt like I could be anything – in a completely new way! I’m thankful to Thomas for letting me into his genderless expression, body-positive, colorful imagination and changing how I view myself as I grow in this crazy world we live in.”
