“The series was created during a filmed session between Matthew and John, I quietly darted about them as they enjoyed each others company. As I sought to capture intimacy and enjoyment, but also the deep connection that comes with the act of sex, I tried to remain as silent as I could, the voyeur.
The title originally stems from the American counter culture of the ’60s, opposing the Vietnam war and encapsulating the sexual revolution, it seems fitting during this time of global upheaval, people are marching. It also makes me think about the speech in, The People VS Larry Flint, and how society has often felt about nudity and sex. How currently on platforms such as Instagram, there are high levels of censorship around the body. Even images posted that are very clearly within Instagram guidelines just disappear. Who are truly offended?
This leads to other questions; is this because the content is homosexual? Who is curating my/our visual experience? Why must we be so ashamed of our natural form, why are images of pain, suffering
There are so many questions, but really all I’m trying to say is…Free the cock, Free the vagina, Make Love, Not War.“
