“What truly fascinate me is how this project opens interpretations towards unexpected considerations. Inspired by the original Rene Magritte’s “The Faceless Businessman” (and its several inspirations), I concentrated in removals. Sometimes working with models, sometimes with actors, I staged situations that could hide common questions of contemporary photography: focus on the eye/focus on the smile. Which is the nationality of this person? Where is this person looking at? Instead of limiting a series of quick shortcuts, I tried to open interpretations by highlighting the surrounding of the figures. Through the shifting of what could be a comercial photo or advertising picture to a faceless presence, I search for the ‘not individual’, the joy of the unknown person.”
